Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Very true, of course, and it is a wonderful thing. Our interests in what we enjoy doing or seeing are so varied it allows for everything under the sun to be enjoyed by someone. But are there also things that are loved by ALL? Yes, I think so. Some things are so incredibly beautiful they appeal to everyone . . . a gorgeous sunset, a beautiful person, an amazing view, just to name a few. But what does all this have to do with fashion? Well to begin with fashion, too, is about personal taste. What colors do you wear? What styles?
We often get caught in a rut when it comes to our closets. Recently, I took a look at my closet and realized that the theme seemed to be black and white, at least during the winter. All very nice, but BORING! I broke out of that rut as quickly as possible and now my closet is full of color! It fills me with joy! When you open your closet how do you feel? Does it make you smile? Do you enjoy finding something beautiful to wear today? What I found out is that life is too short to feel drab. Oh, I still enjoy black and white on occasion, but it is now in interesting patterns that are not boring at all. My newest shoes are a printed red leather and I adore them!
Perhaps it’s time to break out of the mold you find yourself in. Find something that stirs you. Something you wouldn’t have worn yesterday or last week. Something brightly colored perhaps, or with an interesting pattern. Something that makes you smile . . .
That is the essence of fashion.
